Galentine’s Day, the Catholic Gal Way (A Few Fun Ideas to Celebrate!)

Because Valentine’s Day is for more than just romance…đź’•

Galentine’s Day doesn’t have to be flashy, overly romantic, or Pinterest-perfect to be meaningful. At its heart, it’s about celebrating female friendship—something the Catholic tradition actually understands very well. From saints walking alongside one another to the everyday women who support, pray for, and show up for us, sisterhood has always mattered.

So whether you’re single, married, discerning, or somewhere beautifully in between, here are a few simple, joyful, and very Catholic-gal-approved ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day with the women in your life.

  1. Host a Cozy Galentine’s Potluck 🍓💖

Invite your girls over and make it a potluck-style evening. Bonus points for:

  • Heart-shaped snacks or desserts
  • Pink, red, or Valentine’s-themed treats
  • Extra bonus points for dishes inspired by favorite female saints (St. ThĂ©rèse cupcakes? St. Gianna pasta? Catholic gals past and present unite!)

đź’ˇ Sweet & Sentimental Add-On:
Set out small boxes, bags, or envelopes—one labeled with each attendee’s name. Throughout the night, invite everyone to write anonymous notes sharing something they appreciate about each woman and place them in her box. At the end of the night, everyone goes home with a collection of affirming words. It’s simple, meaningful, and almost always turns into happy tears.

Galentine’s Day is about celebrating love—and that includes the kind that builds up, encourages, and reminds us we’re not walking alone.

2. Keep It Simple: Dinner Out With Your Girls 🍽️✨

Pick a favorite local restaurant—or try somewhere new—and gather your girls for a relaxed night out. No prep, no pressure. Just good food, laughter, and the shared joy of being together.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments come from simply showing up, ordering dessert, and staying at the table longer than planned!

3. Host a Galentine’s Bingo Night (Parish-Approved & So Fun!) 🎉🎲

This is one of my favorite ideas—especially for young adult or mixed-age Catholic groups.

Consider hosting a Galentine’s Bingo Night at your parish or community space. It’s:

  • Welcoming
  • Low-pressure
  • Perfect for meeting new people
  • Easy to facilitate (even if you’re not an “event planner”)

Bingo is a great way to break the ice and create conversation in a relaxed, gamified way. You can be the caller, or rotate callers each round to keep it interactive.

đź’Ś Want to make it extra easy?
I created a Catholic Galentine’s Bingo set specifically for this purpose—with instructions included. All you have to do is print it out and play. It’s designed to help women connect, laugh, and celebrate friendship in a faith-friendly, approachable way. (I’ll link it below if you’re interested!)

Final Thought đź’•

Galentine’s Day is simply an invitation to celebrate the gift of friendship, the women who walk with us in faith, and the joy of community.

Whether you’re hosting at home, going out to dinner, or bringing something fun to your parish, remember: female friendship is worth celebrating.

Happy Galentine’s Day, Catholic gal!! 🤍
